What does it mean that we are registered with ACC?

“The Association of Christians in Counselling and linked professions (ACC) is a Christian professional membership organisation for those involved in counselling and linked professions in the UK.

We offer professional support and resources to our members and are committed to promoting safe and ethical practice.”

Similar to the more well-known BACP, the ACC provides a set of standards and ethics that registered counsellors must abide by and be accountable to. These include policies on equality, further training and supervision. If you have need to complain about our practice and ethics, firstly please try to talk to your counsellor about your concerns. If needed, you may contact the ACC for further support.

How does Christianity effect Open door Counselling?
Faith and Christian beliefs are at the heart of who we are. However, we work with people of any or no religious belief. It is your choice if we talk about your faith or religious beliefs. You may decide one day to bring your spirituality in the room or to leave it outside for your session,  talking about what you believe or the impact of your mental health on your faith. Its your faith and your decision on its role in your counseling journey.

The counselling room is situated within the Ark centre, and although it is not part of the Ark church, it is a safe, spirit filled space.

We offer an optional reflective session to end our times together, and to give you room to reflect on your spiritual space

at the end of our counselling journey.

I wholeheartedly recommend Elizabeth to anyone seeking compassionate, Christ-centred support.
